Evert Verhagen (1976) is a human movement scientist and epidemiologist. He is employed as an associate professor at the Department of Public and Occupational Health of the VU University Medical Center and the EMGO Institute in Amsterdam. Within the department's research theme 'Sports, Lifestyle and Health' his main research topics are: 1. Prevention of sports and physcial activity related injuries (including cost-effectiveness and implementation issues); and 2. Physical activity promotion integrated in everyday life. He is project leader of several (inter-)national PhD projects. He has many international scientific collaborations, among which honorary research positions at the Free University of Brussels and Monash University in Melbourne. He is an associate editor of the Journal of Science and Medicine in Sports, and senior associate editor of the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
