Message from the Conference Chairperson

Dear Colleagues and Delegates,

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Second International Emirates Physiotherapy Conference: Physio Dubai 2008. Our 2006 meeting was a resounding success and we are delighted to offer an even greater program for the 2008 gathering.

After much consideration we have selected “Rehabilitation of Movement Dysfunction: A Physiotherapist’s Talent” as the theme for the conference since the subject is so central to our work as physiotherapists. Whether working in acute care, or with neurological dysfunction, work related injuries, athletes, or with musculoskeletal or cardio-respiratory problems, we all deal in the movement system. For this reason we have designed the conference tracks around how movement dysfunction relates to these very specialties.

Physio Dubai 2008 aims to promote evidence based practice by providing the latest in the growing body of knowledge and research in the field of physiotherapy and rehabilitation. We have gathered a distinguished team of keynote speakers, all of whom are leaders in their fields and eagerly anticipate receiving your abstracts. We look forward to building on an already strong program together with your help.

If you were part of the 2006 meeting we welcome you back to Dubai and expect you will be amazed by what has changed since your last visit. For those joining us for the first time, we believe that you will be quite surprised by the developments here both in infrastructure and in the field of Physiotherapy. We look forward to seeing all of you in April.

Abdul Adheem Kamkar, MS, PT, OMT
Chairman of the Emirates Physiotherapy Society
Chair of the Conference
